Mount Rinjani
Mount Rinjani is a volcano found in the northern part of Lombok island in Nusa Tenggara. The top of Mount Rinjani, 3,726 metres, is one of the highest point in Indonesia. The name may come from the Old Javanese language. Rinjani means “God” or “All The Great”.
Mount Rinjani is also a famous tourism resort. The view from the top of the volcano is very beautiful. At 2,030 metres, there is a crater lake called Segara Anakan. This means “Child of the Sea”. The water is bluish green, and there is a lot of cloud above the lake. The are also some beautiful waterfalls and hot water springs.
Many people like to climb Mount Rinjani. It takes about three days and two nights to hike. We can start from the small town of Senaru to the north of the mount. We will pass several campsites before we reach the top of Rinjani. We can come back down to Senaru, or we can climb down the east side of the mountain to Sembalun.
